Laser Hair Removal
Laser Hair Removal Basics
Laser hair removal is a permanent means of reducing unwanted hair. Laser treatment sessions are completed as a series of treatment, spaced approximately 3 to 6 weeks apart depending on the area being treated. An average treatment session will lead to an approximate 20% reduction in dark, unwanted hairs.
How Laser Hair Removal Works
Laser hair reduction is thought to work by targeting the bulb of each hair follicle. Only pigmented hairs can be targeted—the darker and coarser the hair the more successfully a laser can “find” unwanted hair. During treatment, laser energy heats and damages the hair bulb, destroying the hair follicle.
Light Sheer® Duet™ for the Use of Laser Hair Removal
The High Speed LightSheer DUET is a laser that produces a larger beam of highly concentrated light. The light emitted is well absorbed by the pigment located in the hair follicles. This laser has two handpiece choices depending on your needs and utilizes a breakthrough vacuum assisted technology in combination with diode laser light to allow rapid and comfortable treatment of large areas without the need for numbing creams. read more
Areas of the Body and Skin Conditions treated with Laser Hair Removal
Many areas of unwanted hair can be targeted with laser hair removal. The LightSheer® DUET™ may be used on face to treat the upper lip, chin, jawline, or neck. It has a very large handpiece that makes treatment of large surface areas such as the chest and back extremely fast, approximately 5 minutes. Laser hair removal can be used to successfully treat pseudofolliculits barbae, a condition of the face and neck in which ingrown hairs cause inflammation, hyperpigmentation, and scarring.
On the body, laser hair removal is used to treat the underarm area, forearms, arms, legs, back, and bikini area.
Minimizing Pain and Discomfort during Laser Hair Removal
Topical anesthetic as well as a Zimmer Chiller greatly decrease the discomfort of laser hair removal making the procedure virtually painless.
What to do before your Laser Hair Removal session
In preparation for laser treatment, skin should be without a tan or self tanner application. Unwanted hairs should not be plucked, tweezed, waxed, chemically exfoliated, or threaded. Shaving is permitted prior to treatment.
