Dermatologist
Dr. Michele H. Hughes, Director of Premier Dermatology and Skin Cancer Center,
PLLC is a Board Certified Dermatologist who specializes in Mohs Micrographic
Surgery. Dr. Hughes grew up in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and moved to Houston,
Texas. As a teenager, she was an avid softball player throughout high school
and continued her career in softball on scholarship at Mississippi University
for Women. There she earned a Bachelor’s of Science, majoring in Microbiology.
She was named Outstanding Microbiology Graduate in 2002, graduated magna cum
laude and was a member of the honor college.
In 2002, she was named NCAA All America Scholar Athlete and also received the
Headway Award for Academic Excellence. She then earned her Medical Doctorate
from the University of Texas Health and Science Center in San Antonio
(UTHSCSA), where she graduated with top honors and was elected to the national
Alpha Omega Alpha medical honors society.
Dr. Hughes completed her internship at UTHSCSA, where she was awarded
excellence in teaching. Following her internship, she completed a three
year dermatology residency in 2010 at Texas Tech Health Sciences Center in
Lubbock, Texas, where she served as Chief Resident of Dermatology. Currently,
she is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, American Society for
Dermatologic Surgery and Society for Pediatric Dermatology. Dr. Hughes has an
interest in all aspects of Dermatology including Cosmetic and Pediatric
Dermatology, with particular interest in the diagnosis and treatment of skin
cancer. She specializes in Mohs' micrographic surgery for skin cancer, and is
an Associate of the American Society for Mohs' Surgery.
In her free time, Dr. Hughes enjoys spending time with her husband and two
children Haley and Riley. In addition she serves as a life member of the
Junior Auxiliary Biloxi Ocean Springs Chapter. Dr. Hughes is also the current
Head Softball Coach of the Tennessee Mojo 2024 travel softball team and is an
active board member of the Gulfport High School Volleyball and Softball team.
